Call for Members

The Brooklyn Torch project is looking for motivated, productive individuals and friends with ideas to share in building a local currency. We meet regularly to discuss plans for our next steps. Please email the committee to find out how to help. We’re looking for writers, thinkers, organizers, doers and action heroes!

Participate
We need participants at every level. In order for this project to succeed, we need as many local enterprising folks as possible involved. If you are interested in being any of the below, please contact us at committee [at] brooklyntorch [dot] org

Steering Committee
Brooklyn Torch Project needs volunteers to help plan and implement the currency. We are looking for a diverse network of contributors. For example, if you are someone with experience with large scale civic planning, or a local organizer, we are looking for you.

Local Business Owners
If you own a local business in North Brooklyn, please speak to us about joining the network. We would love to list your business among our participants and send trade through your doors.

Local Printers/Papermakers
We are looking for local printers and custom paper makers to collaborate with the Brooklyn Torch Project to print a counterfeit-resistant paper bill set. Our printers will collaborate with our designers and steering committee to print enough bills for both our launch and ongoing minting.

    Hi all,
I support YOU! After hearing about communities in New Zealand, Vermont, and now actually having seen towns like Fairfax, CA implement their own currency into the local economy, I’d love to jump on this growing bandwagon!
Not sure exactly how I can help but let me know. I’m currently working as an ESL teacher in Harlem but live in Crown Heights- I have experience organizing, and translating (french) and would be willing to contribute in any way possible.
    Let me know!
    Enjoy the long weekend,
    Sacha Christianson

I own and run an independent audio mastering studio in Greenpoint Brooklyn and love the idea of local currencies. I would be glad to consider accepting Brooklyn Torches from the many musicians in the area who might wish to use my services if you can provide me with some more info on your project.
