Kudos to you for doing this!! We need to go back to a more local government, and here in MN is no exception.

I believe our Fed. Gov. should have NOT gone off the Gold Standard--our money is a sham. Good for your local government for reinvesting in the local community. Hope you can become a model for cities and states nationwide.

God bless!!

Why not simply have merchants agree to honor old U.S. silver coins
(i.e. pre-1965 dimes, quarters, half-dollars and silver dollars) at current value of their silver content? These coins are, of course, legal tender, and when a restaurant accepts an old half-dollar in exchange for a $14.00 tab, not only is it a fair exchange, but the revenue of $0.50 has positive implications in regard to taxes.

Do you have any plans to make the Brooklyn Torch digital? if it was an online exchange then there wouldn't be any printing issues and for me I would consider it more convient especially for the process of obtaining them.

Hi there...
I'm gathering material for a presentation to the Nambucca Valley, New South Wales, Australia, chambers of commerce on local currencies. I hope to have our own local currency up and running in late 2012.
I;m interested in the progress Brooklyn has made towards its' own currency.
If it's up and running, I'd value a set of the notes. If they are available I can pay via Paypal or Visa, posted to me here in Australia.
kind regards
David Hall

We're a group of volunteers and starting a brand new scheme in our community. Your website offered us with valuable info to work on. You have performed an impressive activity and our entire neighborhood might be grateful to you.

I own and run an independent audio mastering studio in Greenpoint Brooklyn and love the idea of local currencies. I would be glad to consider accepting Brooklyn Torches from the many musicians in the area who might wish to use my services if you can provide me with some more info on your project.

Hi all,
I support YOU! After hearing about communities in New Zealand, Vermont, and now actually having seen towns like Fairfax, CA implement their own currency into the local economy, I'd love to jump on this growing bandwagon!
Not sure exactly how I can help but let me know. I'm currently working as an ESL teacher in Harlem but live in Crown Heights- I have experience organizing, and translating (french) and would be willing to contribute in any way possible.
Let me know!
Enjoy the long weekend,
Sacha Christianson
